One spoonful after another filled with rice and beans.
He was using a spoon to eat while most people were eating using a fork and
knife. Guess, he didn´t want to lose any of it while he brought the food to his
mouth, but then again, he wasn't on a cell phone like other people. His face
showed how grateful he was to be able to eat that meal. It seemed as if it had
been his first meal of the day; or of the week. He sat there at the little
table that was set up on the sidewalk enjoying each and every bite. At the
table next to him, two people eating while looking at their cell phones which
gave the impression that they weren't even mindful about what they were putting
in their mouths. As I sat there in my car mesmerized at the happiness of that
young boy eating his lunch: rice beans fried egg and French fries, I only noticed that the light had turned green because of the honk of the car behind me.
