Nowadays
people think they have the right to correct you in public- to be more exact on
the world wide web. Why not send a message in private – a direct message or DM
as said?
Whenever
someone passes and are to my liking, I post a picture and write R.I.P. there
are people who have the audacity to correct me and write RIP not R.I.P. –
without the periods.
R.I.P.
(with the periods) means rest in peace, which is what I am referring to in my
post, while to rip means to pull apart; to tear or be torn violently and
quickly according to the Cambridge online dictionary. Also, according to the Acronym
Finder online there are hundreds of possibilities to RIP (without the periods),
a few of which are:
Request
in Process
Requirements
Integration Panel
Research
in Progress
Research
Investigation Process (Analysis of Variance Science Education)
Residential
Investment Property
Resin-In-Pulp
Respiratory
Inductance Plethysmography (pulmonary ventilation)
Retirement
Income Plan (finance)
Return
If Possible
Return
Instruction Pointer
Just a tip, before correcting some
one double check. Just Google it. I do make mistakes, but the point here is the
boldness that people have to shame others. Sometimes I just delete the comment,
however, when the person is polite enough to send me the correction via DM, I
thank them and then correct my post. Kindness generates kindness.
So,
remember, when someone passes away, we use R.I.P. ( with periods)
