Sobbing like
a baby, the lab technician questioned the patient of the reason she was crying.
“I haven´t heard from this ear for over 40 years”, she managed to say between a
sob or two. They were tears of bliss, grace, and thankfulness. The lab
technician questioned her what she had done to improve her hearing and all she
was able to say was: “I prayed.”
The reason
her otolaryngologist had asked her to undergo the hearing test because she had
stopping hearing from both ears due to an ear infection. The doctor wanted to know
whether surgery would be needed to help her hear again.
Because of
her age, she will need the help of a hearing aid the improve even more.
However, she is confident that she won´t even need that. Her faith keeps her
going at 80. She believes that one can only appreciate what one has when it is
lost. However, to regain it is a blessing.
